Galant to Austin: The chances of a solution on the border with Lebanon are fading

Galant said during the conversation that Israel “will work by any means necessary to return the hostages held in Gaza and destroy the Palestinian factions.

He pointed out that the army’s goals in the north are “clear,” stressing that Israel is committed to returning the evacuated residents to their homes in northern Israel.

Galant also spoke about the Houthi threat following the rocket fired at central Israel last Sunday, noting that “the Yemeni terrorist group poses a regional threat,” stressing that “Israel has shown how to act against terrorist organizations that threaten its citizens.”

In turn, Austin stressed during the conversation “the steadfast American support for Israel against the threats of Iran, the Lebanese factions movement, and Tehran’s regional partners.”

Austin reiterated to his Israeli counterpart the priority of reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Austin also stressed “the priority of a diplomatic solution to the conflict with the Lebanese factions, allowing civilians on both sides to return to their homes.”

Earlier, Axios reported that minutes before the explosion of the pagers carried by Lebanese faction members in Lebanon, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant called his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin.

According to the American website, Galant informed Austin that Israel is about to carry out an operation in Lebanon soon, but he refused to give any specific details.
