Friborg Olympic crushed Union Neuchâtel (93-46) in the second match of the SBL play-off final. Irresistible, the Fribourgeois are only one victory away from a 20th title.
It would take a small miracle, or a resurrection, for Union to impose itself on Saturday in its room and rekindle the flame of hope during Act III. In view of the forces present on Tuesday in Fribourg, Olympic seems untouchable.
Everything worked perfectly for Aleksic’s team. The players enjoyed themselves by lining up the alley-oops, by piling up the free throws (one without fault on the first 23 shot!), by multiplying the interceptions (12 in total once morest only one at Union) and by demonstrating the desire and aggressiveness of the start to finish, never giving up.
Friborg evolved on a cloud, while on the Neuchâtel side, only Killian Martin and Bryan Colon (17 pts) floated. Fofana had no voice in the matter.
The depth of the Friborg bench is a key asset. Not easy to discern the basic five in this team where everyone invites themselves to the party. Special mention however to Miljanic and Mbala, brilliant and combative, and to Kelly, for his assists.
Olympic had won Act I 84-75. If the Neuchâtelois manage to get their heads out of the water following Tuesday’s rout, they will deserve the resilience medal.
