Gael García responds to Semarnat

A few days ago, Eugenio Derbez, Kate del Castillo, Omar Chaparro, Bárbara Mori, Rubén Albarrán, Natalia Lafourcade, Saúl Hernández and Ana Claudia Talancón, among dozens of actresses, actors and singers, joined the #selvamedeltren campaign, once morest the recent change of route in the construction of the Maya Trendwhich would destroy the world’s largest underground river system and with it flora and fauna.

After the publication of the video of the actors and singers once morest the change to the Mayan Train project, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador accused that the campaign was hired by pseudo-environmentalists.

President López Obrador reverted to them: “When did these artists, pseudo-environmentalists, speak out for the destruction that was going to be carried out on Lake Texcoco, when? We are talking regarding the lake with the most history, which is the origin of Mexico, Tenochtitlán, never, nothing, when did they say something during the neoliberal period that the governments handed over 60% of the territory for mining exploitation, 120 million hectares?

Gael García came to support AMLO

After that, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) tweeted a message similar to the one pronounced by the President.

And even though it was not part of the #selvamedeltren campaign, the actor Gael Garcia participated in the debate by responding to Semarnat “because of an ignorant and aggressive statement.”
