Gábor Zombori did not start the 200 m medley

Among the Hungarians, Gábor Zombori entered the 200 m medley in the swimming program of the Paris Olympics on Thursday morning – in the event in which the Frenchman Léon Marchand already started hoping to win his fourth gold medal.

It is somewhat interesting that the 2022 European champion of the event, a certain Hubert Kós, did not compete in the Olympics in this event, as he discussed with his coach, the American Bob Bowman, so that the 200 m back, in which he was world champion in 2023, would not be endangered in Fukuoka – to miss the opening World Cup for Olympic preparation reasons.

Gábor Zombori qualified for the fourth and last race – Léon Marchand finished in third place in the third, it is not possible and not necessary to just win and give everything… -, but race 7 track remained empty, Gábor Zombori did not stand starting stone. He previously finished 14th in the 400 m medley.

According to local information, he fell ill. The sports association confirmed that the 21-year-old swimmer withdrew from the competition due to illness.

The French swimming star of the Olympics ended up in the semifinals with the third best time, behind Japan’s Seto and Britain’s Scott.

All of this means that for the first time in the history of the Olympics, there will be no Hungarian finalists in one of the mixed swimming events, which have been organized since 1964 at the pentathlon games.
