Gabon acquires the largest solar power plant in Central Africa –

This power plant with an installed capacity of 30 megawatts, delivered this Wednesday, August 28, equipped in particular with a battery-based electrical energy storage system, is an ambitious project of the transition president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma. It is a major step forward for Gabon’s energy transition in its quest to improve the quality of electricity service. With this power plant, built thanks to the engineering of Solen, a leader in the field of renewable energies, up to 300,000 new homes could be supplied.

The photovoltaic solar power plant is only the first step in an ambitious plan that should eventually reach 120 megawatts, aimed at limiting dependence on fossil fuels. This project will contribute at the same time to the creation of several direct and indirect local jobs, while promoting Gabon’s energy independence, we learned.

“This solar power plant, built under the direction of the transitional president, is a crucial step for the energy future of Gabon and for all of Central Africa”said Simon Edou-Eyéné, Project Coordinator at Solen.

Located between Ayémé plaine and Ayémé maritime, in the Estuaire province, this initiative marks a major turning point in the country’s energy strategy, aimed at diversifying its energy sources and strengthening its commitment to sustainable development. It is also a significant technological and environmental advance for the region.

Solen is an international company with operations in Gabon. It acts as an independent power producer and focuses on emerging African markets, paying particular attention to the energy needs of critical industrial and national infrastructure.
