The Newtownbutler community is reeling from the loss of Gabie Jones, a beloved local resident who passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20th. Jones was surrounded by the love of his family during his final moments.

He was a man whose life was intertwined with the love of family. He leaves behind a heartbroken wife, teenie, and four sons who will forever cherish his memory: paul (Claire), Francis (Melissa), Gaby Jnr (Dympna), and Michael. His warmth and guidance will also be deeply missed by his sisters Anne, Bernie, Mary, and Agnes, and also his eight grandchildren: Lara, Kate, Ellie, Michael, Rian, Zara, Lyla, and Rosie. His passing is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter catherine, and his brother Michael.

The community is invited to pay their respects to Gabie this weekend, as he will be resting at his home on Saturday and Sunday, welcoming visitors from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services

A funeral mass honoring Gabie’s life will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. A procession will depart from the family home at 1:15 pm. Following the Mass, Gabie will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
