G. Landsbergis is going to Oman and Egypt

He will participate in the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the European Union (EU)-GCC countries.

In Muscat, the capital of Oman, the EU-GCC ministerial meeting will confirm the EU’s commitment to maintaining a strategic partnership with the Persian Gulf countries, and discuss issues of regional security, cooperation in trade and investment, climate change, development and humanitarian aid.

At the joint council, the minister will speak about the global consequences of Russia’s war aggression against Ukraine.

G. Landsberg’s bilateral meetings with the ministers of Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are planned in Oman. During these meetings, it is planned to discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, to present proposals for the strengthening of economic and trade relations, to encourage tourism exchanges, and to speed up the signing of bilateral legal cooperation agreements.

This is Mr. Landsberg’s first official visit to Oman. In February 2022, he participated in the ministerial meeting of the EU-GCC countries in Brussels.

After his visit to Oman, G. Landsbergis will visit Egypt’s capital Cairo for the first time with an official working visit, where he will meet with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and other high-ranking Egyptian officials, as well as with the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Geit Aboul Gheit).

Political relations, economic and trade cooperation between Lithuania and Egypt will be discussed at the meetings, and opinions will be exchanged on multilateral agenda issues.

On January 22, 1992, Lithuania established diplomatic relations with Egypt. Since 2001, the Lithuanian diplomatic mission has been operating in Cairo.
