With patch 10.1, you can experience a new event on the Dragon Islands: Fyrakka’s Assault. I was able to do one on the test realms and I think the information below will be of interest to many of you Dragonflight players. You will find there the operation of the event as well as the rewards.
1. Where does the Fyrakka Assault start?
Assault is displayed on the world map in the same way as the Great Maruuk Hunt. The icon may change in future builds, but this will allow you to see if the event is active and where it is. On the PTR, I assaulted the Plains of Ohn’arha, but it’s entirely possible that the assault will change location on a regular basis.
2. How does Fyrakka’s Assault work?
Once in the area, the game offers you an elite expedition. In this case, it is Suffusion Camp: Cinderwind. Upon arriving there, you’ll find plenty of enemies battling friendly NPCs, including Baine Bloodhoof.
Your objective is to collect objects by killing monsters, then by activating elements of the decoration to, finally, kill specific bosses. In parallel, you will notice the presence, in the upper part of the interface, of a progress bar linked to the Fury of Fyrakka. Once at 100%, Fyrakka will land and introduce you to one of his friends, Kretchenwrath, who will have to be eliminated.
3. What should you do during the assault?
NPCs will give you various quests like kill 8 monsters, bring a mammoth back to camp, and collect materials there. Nothing special, we will rather focus on the operation of the expedition, a little more complex to understand.
3.1. Phase 1, les Wards of Igira
The first thing to do is kill monsters in a loop. There are normal monsters and other elites, necessarily stronger. In itself, the mobs are not very bad, the problem comes rather from the density of enemies in the area. You can aggro several of them and when you face certain bosses, it can become problematic. That said, when patch 10.1 is released, many players will participate in events, which will make things easier.
Some monsters drop Wards of Igira. When you have five at your disposal, you can interact with certain elements of the decor. These then appear on the mini-map, as in the image below.
By activating the elements (Suffusion Crucible), you will spawn an elite monster. This can take many forms, from fire elemental to a shaman on his drake. Some elites are fairly easy to solo, others not so much, like the three-pack enemies that ripped my Mage good.
3.2. Phase 2, the Wards of Fyrakk and the Forgemaster
By activating the elements of the scenery, you will receive Wards of Fyrakk. These allow, once you have accumulated five, to summon the Forge Master. Again, the game informs you that you can invoke it by indicating the element of the decor on which you must click (Suffusion Mold).
He is a very strong enemy and few of you will be able to kill him alone. Note that if you die, the monster is very likely to be gone when you return, requiring you to farm Wards of Fyrakk once more.
By spawning the Forge Master, you will automatically receive a Everburning Key. This is a key that allows you, when you accumulate three, to open a chest that is near the mini-boss. Once the Forge Master is eliminated, the expedition is validated and you will receive your reward. But we talk regarding it below.
4. Fyrakka’s Fury and appearance of the boss
To increase Fyrakka’s fury from 0 to 100%, you must kill monsters. From what I might gather on PTR 10.1, mobs summoned with Wards of Iriga provide 1% progress while Forgemaster provides 5%. On the test realms, it takes quite a while, but live, I think it will go much faster.
Once the Fury reaches 100%, you can approach the chest which is near the Forgemaster spawn location and use 3 Everburning Key to activate the event and spawn Fyrakka.
Its arrival takes several tens of seconds and will begin with the appearance of flames on the battlefield. Fyrakka eventually arrives but does not fight the players. He quickly gives way to Kretchenwrathanother dragon.
5. Awards
In addition to the gold offered during quests, there are several rewards that you can obtain you can collect from equipment.
- Monsters can drop equipment +/- ilvl 382/392 which can be upgraded.
- Kretchenwrath drops several things:
- From the Drake’s Shadowflame Crest Fragment. These are components that you can combine to create components used to enhance items.
- An epic ilvl 405 item that can also be upgraded.
- Kretchenwrath’s Head, a quest-initiating item that rewards 500 Maruuk Centaur reputation and a Drake’s Shadowflame Crest, which upgrades low-level Champion and high-level Veteran gear to an ilvl 411-424.
The expedition itself rewards you with multiple copies of Drake’s Shadowlflame Crest Fragment.
