Future presidential candidates have a week left to collect voter signatures

Each person running for the President of the Republic must collect at least 20,000 signatures of approval from voters who support him.

Future candidates will be able to collect voters’ signatures until March 28unless they decide to submit the collected signatures after previously informing the CEC in writing and agreeing on the delivery time of the paper signature sheets during the CEC’s working hours.

The CEC reminds that it is necessary to return both the completed signature collection sheets and those that remained unused.

At the same time, when the future candidate or his representatives arrive at the CEC and deliver paper voter signature sheets, the electronic signature on the “Voter’s page” will be stopped and the number of voters who signed there will be recorded.

The signature collection sheets must be delivered in accordance with the established signature delivery procedure, which provides that:

• sheets must be stapled into files of 100 pieces;
• the person collecting signatures or the representative of the candidate, political party writes the file number and serial number in the file on the paper sheet for collecting voters’ signatures;
• a case description is filled out for each case. The description is pinned at the beginning of the case. Cases are numbered and a case report is filled out;
• implement other obligations established in the procedure for attaching signatures, approved by the decision of the CEC.

During the transfer of the signature sheets to the CEC, the act of returning the voter signature collection sheets will be drawn up and the preliminary number of voter signatures (indicated by the candidate or his representatives) on the paper signature collection sheets and the number of signatures submitted online on the “Voter page” will be recorded.

After receiving the signature collection sheets, the CEC will check them within 10 days and determine the number of signatures collected by each candidate.

The election of the President of the Republic will be held on May 12.
