Written by Mounis Hawass Saturday, February 3, 2024 01:22 PM New reports revealed that the first foldable device might arrive from… Apple company In 2026 or 2027, according to a new report from “industry sources” in Korea, its internal screen size will be around 7 – 8 inches, so it might replace the iPad mini according to some rumors.

But its specifications and features have not been finalized yet, and on top of that, Apple is testing a new generation of iPad mini with an OLED screen, which will not make much sense if it is quickly discontinued to make way for the foldable device.

Speaking of which, Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce OLED displays to its iPad Pro line later this year. The OLED iPad mini won’t be coming until next year.

Both Samsung Display and LG Display have allegedly supplied Apple with samples of foldable display panels in the 6-inch and 7-inch size ranges respectively, and now it looks like Apple wants to go bigger for what might be its first foldable device.

However, if Apple decides this is possible, it is very likely that it will place orders for displays with Samsung Display first, given its extensive experience supplying foldable panels to Samsung Electronics. LG Display is likely to begin mass production of foldable displays for Apple a year following Samsung, if Apple follows a dual-supplier strategy.

Later, around 2028, Apple may also launch a 20.25-inch foldable product, which will either be branded as iPad or Mac, and of course the 20.25-inch size refers to the foldable internal display.
