For the initial National Union, the « Oui » of its activists and the Gabonese in the next referendum consultation symbolizes the restoration of the dignity of the Gabonese and the strengthening of national unity, they proclaimed.
Underlining the importance of a massive and unanimous vote in favor of this new constitution and welcoming the work carried out by the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), Paul Marie Gondjout suggests that “It is by saying a frank and massive “Yes” that we will consolidate our life together. This approach is essential to allow each Gabonese to recognize themselves in this new republic”insisted the president of the UNI.
The expression of ‘’Oui’’ in favor of the draft constitution submitted to a referendum on November 16, is due to the fact that the UNI and its president will have actively participated in the reflection around this draft constitution, we learned.
“Let us reassure you that this text embodies, through clear principles and strong commitments, our aspiration for a more democratic future. Firstly, it guarantees the alternation of power by limiting mandates. This point is essential so that power does not become a privilege, but remains at the service of the common good, open to all. This new constitution also enshrines the ban on dynastic successions. It reaffirms that power must come from the people, without any inheritance of privilege or family monopoly.explained Paul-Marie Gondjout.
The UNI therefore calls for unfailing mobilization around this common project. “which will demonstrate to the world that Gabon is on the path to progress and renewal”she says.
Also, the president of the UNI spoke of the need to go beyond partisan considerations. “It is important to move away from political considerations and focus on unity around this project”concludes the initial National Union, which at the same time demonstrates its commitment to working for a Gabon where every citizen will feel valued and involved in public life.
