A shot taken by photographers from the Carscoops portal shows the external look of the BMW iX3 during winter tests carried out by the German automaker in northern Europe. The prototype of the electric SUV appears completely camouflaged, making it difficult to identify possible innovations made by the company in the front and rear of the future EV.
The iX3 should only be presented in 2025, however, it is already possible to see it in external tests carried out by the European giant. The model must be built on the Neue Klasse platform replacing the current iX3 (NA5) sold in Europe, but not in the United States, with improvements not only in design, but also in the battery.
According to information, BMW intends to start production of the vehicle only 18 months from now, meaning there is still a long period for the automaker to test the SUV in situations other than winter weather. Analysis in different weather conditions is important to evaluate both the performance and safety of the car.
The company highlights that the Neue Klasse batteries will feature a new cylindrical cell design, different from the current prismatic cell design. This and other improvements should make it more interesting in terms of energy efficiency, and can deliver up to 30% greater autonomy compared to current BMW batteries.
Check out the photos of the car caught in the tests below:
Although the strong camouflage above does not allow us to see the entire structure of the iX3, it is possible to notice at the rear the presence of the Hofmeister fold in the glass and, apparently, an internal panel similar to that of the Vision Neue Klasse.
