Fürth coach Stefan Leitl before moving to Hannover 96

He has just been relegated from the Bundesliga with Fürth. It is now being reported that he will be on the sidelines for another second division club next season.

Trainer Stefan Leitl changes according to a report by the TV broadcaster Sky Bundesliga-relegated SpVgg Greuther Furth to the second division soccer team Hannover 96. Accordingly, the 44-year-old should take over the position of head coach at Lower Saxony in the coming season.

On Tuesday, the “Bild” also reported on an alleged meeting between Leitl and those responsible for the club in Hanover. There was no confirmation of this. However, this coincides with t-online information. Hanover has been in contact with Leitl for a long time.

Leitl uses exit clause

The current 96 coach Christoph Dabrowski is still fighting for his job. “It’s clear that I’m in the mood to continue here,” said the 43-year-old on Tuesday in a media round. Dabrowski’s contract expires after the end of this season. Sports director Marcus Mann only wants to talk about new contracts for coaches and players once they have secured their place in the class.

As Sky reports, Fürth would have liked to continue working with Leitl, but the coach is now making use of an exit clause in his contract, which is actually valid until 2023. Nothing is officially known about a transfer fee. Leitl took over the club in 2019 and sensationally managed to get promoted the previous year. Since last weekend, the relegation of the tail light has already been determined.
