The Salzburg police are looking for the suspected murderer of a 52-year-old man from Salzburg-Schallmoos. Do videos from a gas station help in the search for the perpetrator?

After the violent death of a 52-year-old man in his apartment on Gabelsbergerstrasse in Salzburg-Schallmoos, the police investigation is in full swing. Hans Wolfgruber, spokesman for the police, said on Friday: “The traces secured at the scene of the crime are currently being evaluated and compared, such as fingerprints and shoe prints and DNA samples. The interviews and interrogations are being carried out at the same time in order to examine the victim’s surroundings.”

There is no indication of a motive or a possible perpetrator. A murder weapon has not yet been found either, although the police combed the streets around the crime scene building. The bloody crime took place in an apartment on the third floor of a ten-story high-rise building.

As reported, a 52-year-old man was found dead by police officers there on Wednesday evening. The victim was injured and, according to the autopsy, was killed.

The 52-year-old had been employed as a furniture mover by a moving company in Salzburg-Lehen since January. The company is said to have mainly used it for clearing out in neighboring Upper Austria. Residents of the high-rise described the Salzburger as friendly and nice. He was seen by a neighbor on Tuesday.

On the same day, the victim should have made a professional appointment – but the 52-year-old did not come there. The investigators assume that the man from Salzburg was killed in his apartment. In the vicinity of the high-rise building there is an Agip petrol station, whose surveillance cameras not only film the area of the company, but also the entrance to the block of flats. The videos were made available to the police.

On Wednesday, the man’s concerned partner reported him missing. At 6:06 p.m., the professional fire brigade brought a policewoman with a turntable ladder to a tilted window of the third floor apartment. The officer got in, found the dead man and opened the door for colleagues.
