Penny Lancaster is grateful to the public who respectfully walked the streets of London to bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II. The former model and wife of Rod Stewart is a special constable with the City of London police. She was on duty during the sovereign’s funeral procession on Monday, September 19.
“You can never quite predict how the crowd will react and the dangers that might lie in wait,” she told Sky News. But we had great training and great preparation and luckily everyone paid their respects in the proper way and we had no incidents to speak of. So, I’m very grateful for that. »
“Highest Honour”
Penny Lancaster, 51, trained to be a police officer following appearing on Channel 4’s ‘Famous and Fighting Crime’ in 2019. She added to PA Media: ‘I think it’s (the same reason ) for which every officer wanted to be here today, because we took an oath to the queen to serve for the police office. It is the greatest honor to be able to serve at Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral today.”
“We were in uniform at 5 a.m. this morning and we don’t know what time we will be working. We just want to make sure everyone gets home safely. Today was quite a long day, but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
