Former Congolese opponent Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas was buried this Friday, January 21 at Le Bourget, in the Paris region, ten months following his death, which occurred while he was a candidate for the presidential election in Congo-Brazzaville. The family divisions continued until the end on the reasons and the date of his death.
Burying Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas was the wish of his widow and five of his brothers. On the other hand, another part of the family of the Congolese opponent continued to oppose it, 10 months following his death. In particular his 3 children and 7 other of his brothers and sisters, who had pursued the legal proceedings until the end to delay the burial.

This clan of the family demanded new investigations into the reasons and the date of the death of Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas, claiming that he died on March 21, polling day when he faced Denis Sassou-Nguesso at the polls, while the autopsies already carried out in France concluded that he died on March 22 due to a ” cardio-respiratory failure “due to a” severe pneumonia “, as well as contamination with Covid, which ruled out the rumor of poisoning.
Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas had been urgently evacuated on the night of March 21 to 22 from Congo to France. The official date of his death was important, as it might have invalidated the presidential ballot in the Congo.
