Publication of the In Extenso Innovation Croissance and ESSEC Business School fundraising barometer: summary of the 3rd quarter of 2022.
After an exceptional first half for French and European tech, the third quarter was marked by a marked slowdown in Europe as in France. Cumulatively over the first 9 months of the year, France remains on a good dynamic, following reaching the peak of the bubble in the 1st quarter of 2022. A new trend seems to be starting this quarter, with a more diversified reallocation of funds towards startups at less advanced stages of growth and also towards impact financing.
“While a slowdown seems to be taking place in Europe, France resisted better in the third quarter. The large rounds of tables are down and the valuation benchmark is struggling to normalize, leading to a slowdown in late stage transactions. On the other hand, seed funding remained strong over the period with a sustained funding momentum for innovative projects in the launch phase. The rise of impact financing is also one of the strong trends of this third quarter” commented Patricia Braun, Associate President In Extenso Innovation Croissance.
