Fundación Alzheimer Venezuela Bolívar Chapter graduated 16 professional caregivers

The event was held on August 13 at the College of Engineers of Puerto Ordaz.

16 new professional caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s received their certificate this Saturday at the College of Engineers of Puerto Ordaz.

The Board of Directors of the Fundación Alzheimer Venezuela Bolívar Chapter, chaired by Josette Quintero, was in charge of the event.

132 hours of preparation received the students of the VII promotion with 120 theoretical hours and another 12 of practices with institutional and residential internships.

The medical directive made up of psychiatrist Nancy Rodríguez; Josefina Pérez, geriatric doctor; and María Isabel Álvarez, anesthesiologist and psychoneurology doctor, attended the graduation ceremony.

Janette Molina, vice president of the Fundación Alzheimer Venezuela Bolívar Chapter, specified that in Venezuela after covid-19, Alzheimer’s has wreaked havoc on older adults, she lamented that this topic is still taboo for the population.

That is why training caregivers will make it possible to understand and care for the disease. “We have a lot of adults not only with Alzheimer’s, but also lonely,” she mentioned. For Molina this leads to depression and in turn is the breeding ground for Alzheimer’s.

For those interested in training as professional caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s, the foundation has Instagram social networks available @Alzheimerguayana and on Twitter @Alzheimerguayan or you can write to the email address alzheimerguayana@gmail.com.

He stressed that through the networks they make the programming known one or two months in advance. They estimate the possibility of opening registrations for the next course at the end of the year.
