Fun Cooking Nuggets – Fun Cooking Nuggets

Object nuggets became a fun cooking choice in last week’s Saung Aksara literacy class. Chicken nuggets may be familiar to children. But ok nuggets? Hmm, how do you feel?

Actually, I scheduled fun cooking for November in the last week. Then, the plan was to make pudding. But one day when I saw the status of PKK women who were training on food diversity and the practice of making object nuggets, how come it was really interesting? Especially now’s kids, it seems that they rarely know or still eat oyek.

Finally, immediately comment on someone’s status, let’s just call Mrs. El.

“Mother, can I ask Saung Aksara’s children to make nuggets?”

“I can. Come on when? Next Sunday I can

Wow, fast response guys. Deal on Sunday, I followed up by asking what tools and materials were needed, then proceeded to go shopping.

Get to know the Object

Sunday at 2 pm, the children came to the saung and immediately wow wow saw there was a table with various ingredients to make object nuggets. Before starting to cook, Mrs. El introduced the object which turned out to have a lot of benefits.

One of them is the object has low sugar levels so it is good for people with diabetes, cholesterol and obesity. Apart from that, oyek contains various nutrients including phosphorus, calcium, B vitamins, iron, protein, and of course carbohydrates.

Mrs. El also explained the history of the object, when during the colonial era it was difficult for our ancestors to get rice so they finally had the idea to process cassava which is easily available into an object that resembles rice so that it can be stored longer.

It turns out that children are no strangers to the object, although it is rare that many have never consumed it. Some admit that they don’t like the distinctive aroma, the effect of soaking cassava. But when it’s processed into nuggets, it turns out that it tastes really good and the kids love it????

How to Make Object Nuggets

During the cooking process, the children took turns cutting the vegetables and then sautéing the onions, adding the ingredients one by one starting from the vegetables, the steamed and chopped chicken, cheese, milk, salt and pepper, and the oyek.

After everything is well mixed, turn off the heat and add the beaten eggs. Why was the fire turned off? So that the eggs are not lumpy and cooked first. Stir once more until well blended and then place in the tin and steam for 10 minutes.

Once cooked, then cut into pieces, dipped in a solution of flour and water, then roll in breadcrumbs and finally fry in hot oil.

Thank God, the object nuggets are enjoyed together with a dipping sauce of tomato and chili. Together the children thanked Mrs. El.
