IN ORDER to introduce chess to children, Japfa held a Fun Chess Festival at Tebet Eco Park, Jakarta on Saturday (10/8).

According to VP Head of Social Investment Japfa, his party held the event because it was inspired by GM Susanto Megaranto who had also known chess since childhood. “In the past, GM Susanto Megaranto knew chess since childhood,” said Artsanti. “Because of chess, Susanto was able to travel the world,” he added.

In addition, Artsanti continued, his party also wants to popularize chess, which is often considered a complicated and difficult sport.

“Today’s Fun Chess Game was attended by more than 200 children from elementary schools around Japfa,” said Artsanti. “In this activity there are several fun chess simulation games for children but still provide an introduction to chess understanding and theory,” she added.

Meanwhile, PB Percasi welcomed Japfa’s initiative in developing an initiative to develop a strategy targeting children in developing education.

“This activity is an interesting phenomenon to introduce chess to school-age children,” explained Henry Jamals as the PB Percasi School Chess Commission.

“This approach is an opportunity to educate chess from an early age. So that opportunities for coaching and finding superior seeds can be done earlier,” he added.

The Fun Chess Festival introduces chess game models, both with game simulation models and simultaneous chess and blind chess.
The last two activities are one of the efforts to introduce the benefits of practicing chess for children. Blind chess and simultaneous chess show the benefits of chess games in developing the ability to memorize and analyze simultaneously.

“Simultaneous chess and blind chess are events that get quite a lot of attention from participants from children and parents,” said Merry Damayanti, Social Investment Japfa. “Even some student participants are interested in joining Japfa chess training through Japfa Chess Academy,” concluded Merry.
