Full Speed Ahead: Nation Pins Hopes on Track and Field Stars

MINISTER of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo emphasized that athletics is one of the main focuses of sports development with the target of achieving success in the Olympics, with support from facilities and infrastructure from the government.

Dito explained that the government is not only focused on building sports facilities and infrastructure for football, but also providing it
serious attention to other sports that have great potential for Olympic medals, one of which is athletics.

“We have built PB PASI athletic facilities, while the badminton facilities in Cipayung will probably be completed next year. Apart from that, we are also building the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center, which will be one complex for 14 sports,” said Dito in
written statement, Thursday (10/10).

Dito together with PB PASI Chairman Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan inaugurated the PB PASI Athletic Training Center in Pangalengan, West Java.

Dito emphasized that football is not the only priority for national sports development, considering that other sports are also important, especially those with great potential in international events such as the Olympics.

“Athletics is also a top priority, because it is one of the most important sports at the Olympics,” said Dito.

He emphasized the commitment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to continue to strengthen sports branches that require special training centers with the target of excelling in the next Olympics.

“With the facilities that have been built and human resources that we have strengthened, we hope that the 2028 Olympics will be a new historical milestone for Indonesia,” said Dito.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to continuing to advance sports branches that have the potential to gain achievements at the international level, as part of efforts to improve national sports achievements in the Olympics. (Ant/Z-1)
