Jeddah: Full indigenization has started in 14 job sectors in the field of postal and parcel transport in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has stated that starting from Saturday (December 17), the decision to limit postal and parcel transport jobs to Saudi nationals in all regions of the country has started. The law came into force immediately after the expiry of the period allowed for the nationalization of postal and parcel transport sectors.
The officials stated that the indigenization of this field is a continuation of the efforts being made by the Ministry to provide a suitable and productive work environment for the citizens of the country, including men and women, and to increase their participation in the labor market. The objective of ‘Vision 2030’ is to increase the contribution of natives in the economic sector behind job indigenization. This decision is implemented with the cooperation of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Transport Authority.
In the decision to indigenize postal operations and parcel transport, 14 postal job sectors will be 100 percent indigenized in the first phase. Cleaning workers and cargo workers have been exempted from this rule. Delivery services via electronic platforms, local and international transport of parcels, local delivery of parcels, courier activities, tasks for receiving, delivering and transporting bag mail and postal parcels, post office management services, postal logistics services, activities of private postal carriers, private postal services and delivery, regular mail , express mail and other mail operations, processing and storage services for postal items and parcels will be included in the indigenization decision.
On June 22 this year, Human Resource Minister Ng. Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi announced the decision to localize postal parcel transport jobs. Apart from this sector, 100 percent of CEO jobs, 60 percent of senior management first level posts, 70 percent of senior management second level posts and 70 percent of senior management second level posts were also announced on that day. That too will happen soon. It is expected that more than 7,000 jobs will be created in various regions of the country through the indigenization of postal operations and parcel transport.
