From the evening of August 19th to the daytime of the 20th, many places in Fujian continued to experience heavy rain. In Pingtan, Fujian, the Meteorological Observatory of the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Area upgraded the orange rainstorm warning signal to the red rainstorm warning signal at 21:42 on the 19th. The heavy rain caused many places to be flooded and waterlogging was serious. From the 19th to the 20th, the Pingtan Fire Rescue Detachment received a total of 14 police cases, dispatched 89 fire rescue personnel, 14 fire rescue vehicles of various types, and 3 fire rescue boats, and evacuated and transferred 57 trapped people.
The heavy rain also caused severe flooding on the road near Longfeng East Road, Haitan Street. Many private cars were trapped in the water. Rescuers approached the trapped vehicles along the accumulated water, and brought the trapped people to a safe area while ensuring safety.
The fire department reminded that attention should be paid to prevent secondary disasters such as urban and rural waterlogging, landslides, mudslides and other secondary disasters that may be caused by heavy rainfall.
