Fuel shortage in the Pyrénées-Orientales: 11 service stations closed and 39 partially broken

After changing its fuel distribution regulations in the Pyrénées-Orientales on Tuesday evening, the prefecture takes stock of the situation.

In front of the fuel shortage generated by the blockages of Total and Esso refineries whose staff are in strike to demand better wages, a supply limit in the Eastern Pyrenees was set on the evening of Tuesday, October 11, 2022 by the prefecture on the 87 stations-service spread over the territory. Then, the representatives of professionals in the sector and the internal security forces were received by the teams from the capital of the department.

At 4 p.m. today, 11 service stations are completely closed and 39 are affected by a partial rupture. “There is therefore a slight improvement compared to yesterday (Tuesday, editor’s note) at the same time when there were 19 total closures”underlines a press release from the prefecture.

As a reminder, since this noon, it is forbidden to use jerry cans to fill them with fuel, there is a limit on filling the gauges to 30 liters for light vehicles, and 120 liters for heavy goods vehicles, “and everyone is asked to adopt habitual consumer behavior.” Furthermore, some stations reserve priority queues for the vehicles of certain professionals.

“The difficulties encountered in the service stations of the department since the beginning of the week are not linked to the unavailability of the resource in the depots but to logistical difficulties among the operators, combined with precautionary overconsumption on the part of consumers. “further specifies the document.

This situation is evolving and may be reviewed regularly. The measures may be adapted or lifted by the end of the week.
