As Le Parisien announced to you on Monday, the government has therefore decided to act on the lever of mileage allowances to try to help the French to cope with the increase in fuel prices, which is breaking records lately. days. The scale for calculating this allowance for taxed households declaring their professional expenses will thus be “raised by 10%”, Jean Castex announced on Tuesday. This increase should be formalized “as of this week” by a decree, specified the Prime Minister during the session of questions to the government at the Assembly.
The measure would benefit 2.5 million taxable taxpayers who declare real costs rather than opting – like the vast majority of households – for a 10% reduction. “The effect will be quick and direct from their 2021 income tax return or last year’s profits,” assured Mr. Castex.
According to the head of government, “this revaluation is also intended to serve as a reference, and therefore potentially to have an impact on the mileage allowances paid directly by employers to their employees who use their personal vehicle”.
The executive pulls out the checkbook once more
A few hours before this announcement, during his trip to Haute-Vienne, Emmanuel Macron had actually indicated that the government was working on new measures to cushion the increase in the price of gasoline for the French, while acknowledging that “very few measures have a substantial impact on something that does not depend on us”.
Pressured for several months by galloping inflation, and with the presidential election fast approaching, the executive has already taken out the checkbook several times, notably deciding to pay 100 euros to 38 million people. . This compensation, “20 million French people have already received it”, Jean Castex further detailed this Tuesday. “Public officials who are eligible will receive their compensation on payroll at the end of January. And at the end of February, 12 million of our retired fellow citizens will be added who will receive it via their pension funds, ”he continued.
To this bonus were added an exceptional payment of 100 euros in December for the six million households benefiting from the energy check, the blocking of gas prices and the limitation to 4% of the increase in electricity prices.
