Fuels in LuxembourgEnd of the 7.5 cents discount tonight at midnight

LUXEMBOURG – Put in place in mid-April to try to counter the surge in prices at the pump, the drop of 7.5 centimes per liter of fuel ends this Wednesday.

The measure ends on August 31.

The liter of Super 95 decrease of 2.1 cents, this Wednesday at the pump, and is now trading at 1.634 euros. But while the State rebate of 7.5 centimes / liter expires on August 31, it would therefore cost from Thursday (if prices do not change in the meantime) 1.709 euros / liter for the Super 95 and 1.957 euros / liter for the Super 98, while the liter of diesel would go to 1.975 euro.

This reduction of 7.5 centimes negotiated by the tripartite was implemented April 13 and was originally scheduled to end on July 31. The government had decided at the end of July to extend for one month. The measure was aimed at addressing soaring oil prices since the start of the war in Ukraine in late February.

The liter of diesel had thus for example taken 62 euro cents in the space of 15 days, going from 1.5 euro to 2.12 euros, between February 26 and March 10.
