The AT&T Center in San Antonio becomes the Frost Bank Center. After 17 years with the same name, the legendary Spurs arena is changing sponsors and therefore naming at the same time. Victor Wembanyama will play his first NBA game at the Frost Bank Center.
Change in San Antonio!
After 17 years of being called AT&T Center, the Spurs’ lair will now be called Frost Bank Center. No major revolution to report, but a small twinge in the heart for fans of the franchise, who were starting to get attached to the name of their favorite arena. (to learn more regarding the Spurs room, it’s here) Frost Bank nevertheless remains a well-known name in Texas since it is one of the historical sponsors of the black and white franchise for 50 years.
Spurs chief executive RC Buford welcomed the even closer collaboration (via Spurs press release):
“We are thrilled to bring together two of San Antonio’s most valuable brands to represent our community in a new and meaningful way. Fifty years ago, our two organizations envisioned what a professional sports team might mean to our community, and it’s only fitting that we come together to welcome fans into the home of the San Antonio Spurs. Aligning the Frost and Spurs names in such a significant way celebrates both our enduring presence in Texas and our shared commitment to the communities we are privileged to serve.” – Spurs press release
