Frontline Dog Day was held at the Museum | Victory of the Russian Federation | News from 08/18/2024

About 2 thousand people celebrated the Day of the Frontline Dog in the branch of the Victory Museum — the museum “Main Weapons Relics of the Army”. Guests of the family festival got acquainted with the work of the cynologists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and service dogs, learned about the work of the search and rescue squad “LizaAlert”, canistherapy, and talked with guide dogs.

“Our school is not the first time participating in the “Day of the Frontline Dog”. It is very interesting for us, it is our job, our profession. We hold such performances so that people understand what we do, know that thanks to service dogs trained to search for drugs and explosives, many lives are saved. Today, a Rottweiler, a Belgian and German Shepherd, a Russian hunting spaniel, and a Labrador are taking part in the performances. All of them are in their first year of training,” said one of the teachers of the cynology cycle of the branch of the Rostov School of Service and Detective Dog Breeding in the city of Yegoryevsk.

The youngest wards of the school, five-month-old puppies, also demonstrated their skills at the open area of the G.O.R.A. museum. They demonstrated how they can perform a set of commands and do the snake exercise, which, according to the instructor, is necessary so that the dogs are not afraid of the human body in their future work.

“We have been holding this holiday for the eighth year in a row, and every year it attracts a large number of participants. It is dedicated to the feat of dogs during the Great Patriotic War, and its date was chosen in memory of the feat of the army shepherd saboteur Dina, who dropped explosives in front of an approaching German train and herself survived,” the Victory Museum noted.

In the transport location of the G.O.R.A. museum, in the entourage of the military equipment exhibition, dog handlers of the Moscow Regional Sports and Cynological Public Organization “X Legion” together with dogs recreated combat episodes from the Great Patriotic War. During special excursions, viewers were shown the work of frontline dogs – tank destroyers, signalmen, medics, scouts, miners, rescuers.

“Chaffee and I have taken part in the festival three or four times already. Chaffee is a white Swiss shepherd, and white ones are usually liked by everyone. Chaffee always gets attention,” said one of the participants of the event, Valery.

On the Day of the Frontline Dog, numerous master classes with dogs and lectures about four-legged pets were prepared for visitors at the museum site on Poklonnaya Gora. In addition, in one of the locations, there was a stand of the shelter for homeless dogs “Red Pine”, where everyone could find a loving and loyal friend.

The project’s information partners are the radio station “Zvezda” and the newspaper “Arguments of the Week”.
