The acting Minister of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, explained that “the latest report we have is of 3,297 people affected throughout Chile,” numbers that are “concentrated in Biobío with 3,219 affected, followed by Ñuble with 52 and La Araucanía with 21.”

“We would like to reiterate our condolences to the family and those close to them for an incident involving the fall of a pole that ultimately resulted in the death of a person,” the authority concluded.

According to Monsalve, “the meteorological alert that was raised for the regions of Ñuble and Biobío by the Meteorological Office of Chile has been cancelled,” the same case as the alert that was in effect in the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitana and O’Higgins. “This means that the amount of precipitation that will fall is less than that forecast, which is very important.”
