A year ago, when the war broke out in Ukraine, life for Valeria Gryshchenko, originally from Kyiv, and her boyfriend Juan Manuel Patiño, an Ecuadorian, began to change. In the midst of uncertainty, they made the tough decision to flee the country for Ecuador. Not an easy journey.
