If you’re on TikTok, you’ve surely noticed that more and more real estate ads are popping up there. Incidentally, the hashtag #imobiliare has over 500 million views, and #imobiliareromania, over 100 million. That’s because more and more real estate agents are promoting themselves on TikTok. And no, it’s not just regarding Şerban Trîmbitașu, a real estate agent with over 280,000 followers.

Over the past few decades, the places people search for a home to buy or rent have changed, in part because of all the technological changes. The way people choose to promote their real estate ads has also changed radically.
All these developments have important consequences for both sellers and buyers, but also for real estate agents. From word of mouth passing around the neighborhood, then short notices in newspapers, we’ve now reached virtual tours and spectacular presentations on TikTok. The result: the real estate market not only looks, but also advertises itself very differently in 2023 than it did in 1990.
