Starting this Wednesday, October 25, you can see Beplayinga series of Star+ that shows the particularities and the lesser known side of six of the most important DJs in the world. Among them is the Argentine Hernán Cattaneo, who deals with banishing some prejudices around his profession. There he tells how thanks to his older sisters, who did it listening to Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd in a mixer when I was a child, He fell in love with music forever.
The first chapter is dedicated to the Argentine and there Cattaneo tries to clear up several preconceptions that revolve around those who work “at night.” At least he says that although he has a profession that mostly happens during the early hours of the morning, when he returns home, he gets up to take his daughters to school like anyone else. He also points out that he practices yoga and leads a healthy life.
The episode narrates an event that changed his life almost magically. On one occasion he had to share a date with Chemical Brothers y Paul Oakenfold. But due to a disagreement and a last-minute change of hours, Cattaneo, who was going to open the show, was left in the middle between the two. He decided to make a gesture of greatness with Oakenfold, whom he greatly admired. As at that time the Chemical were the best known and had left the audience very excited, the Argentine decided to lower the energy with his set, so that Oakenfold might give the final touch and shine in his turn.
The plan worked and Oakenfold, in addition to seeing Cattaneo as a great artist, saw a playing partner and, without hesitation, took him with him to play around the world. Cattaneo left his resident position at the Buenos Aires nightclub “Pachá” and from then on he began to establish himself as an artist recognized in the world.
Among other notable moments that are told in Beplayingthe odyssey he carried out when playing in the Teatro Colón with its machines on par with the symphony orchestra. A unique milestone.
“Beplaying: the voice behind the sound”: Cattáneo, Van Buuren, Cox, Afrojack, Hawtin and Nervo
In addition to Cattaneo, the series addresses the life of the Dane Armin Van Buuren, the British Carl Cox, the Australians Nervo, the Danish Afrojack and the British-Canadian Richie Hawtin. Through archival material, images of their performances and testimonies from members of their intimate, professional and personal circle, the documentary series explores little-known aspects of each artist.
In each installment, the DJs themselves share memories, anecdotes and reflections regarding their journey, while opening the doors of their recording studio and home to show the intimacy of their family and work life. Realized by Bourke Films, “Beplaying: the voice behind the sound” is made up of six 30-minute episodes and is executive produced by Argentine DJ Tommy Muñoz.
