From success to trials, the tragic intertwined destinies of Mike Lynch and Stephen Chamberlain, who died in accidents 48 hours apart

NARRATIVE – Killed in the sinking of his yacht in Sicily for one and in a road accident for the other, the two men worked together for a long time, and face accusations of fraud after the sale of a company to HP.

When Stephen Chamberlain was hired by Mike Lynch’s company in 2005, the two men had no idea how much their destinies had become intertwined. After having led a flagship British tech company, negotiated its sale in 2011 to HP for $11 billion, faced a trial in the United States for fraud and finally been acquitted last June, they both died in accidents, that same weekend in mid-August. In a sinister coincidence, the first was hit by a car while he was out running on Saturday morning, while the second, who was celebrating his victory in court, was swept away by the sinking of his yacht in Sicily less than 48 hours later.
