Michael J. Fox rowed well before becoming famous.

During an interview with Variety, the Back to the Future star opened up regarding growing up in Canada, raised by William, a police dispatcher, and Phyllis, an office worker.

After appearing in several school plays, Michael J. Fox realized he was “more gifted than some” and moved to Los Angeles to become an actor.

“I was living on the margins of society. I was 18, had no money, no connections. I was literally rummaging through garbage cans for food, he says. I knew that if I wanted to be somebody, I mightn’t just sit on my parents’ porch and be like, “Damn, if I was born in the United States, if my parents had money and didn’t live day to day, I might do something with my life.”

The actor remembers the filming of A crazy, crazy night, in 1980, during which he said to himself, “Why will this work for me and not for them.

He explains: “It wasn’t that I wished them bad luck or bad luck – I wished them all the success in the world… But I knew I was going to make it. God knows why.”

Two years later, Michael J Fox landed his role in Sacred Family.

World success came with Back to the Future, in 1985. Six years later, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and the doctors only gave him ten more years to work.

“It’s such a rotten disease, he regrets. I didn’t want to think regarding it. I didn’t want to deal with it. It didn’t fit my story. I just closed my eyes.”

Despite the diagnosis, the actor didn’t retire until 2020. “I’ve won more awards and had more nominations since announcing my illness,” he said. to remark. “People may feel bad for me, but I prefer to see it as recognition for continuing to pursue a legitimate career. »
