From San Siro to the Duomo, Inter’s great Scudetto celebration – Football

A black and blue tide, a raging river that filled all the streets of Milan. The Inter fans explode in their joy at the conquest of the twentieth scudetto, celebrating throughout the city on the day of the tricolor parade. A long black and blue caravan started from San Siro and arrived in Piazza Duomo having to deal with an enthusiasm that has few equals, with thousands and thousands of fans who followed the entire route from the stadium to the centre, where the team was welcomed by a further expanse of Nerazzurri among flags, chants and smoke bombs. A celebration that already began at the Meazza at the final whistle of the victory against Torino. The players went around the pitch with the “Champions of Italy” banner and the two stars, between a water balloon from Pavard towards coach Simone Inzaghi and Arnautovic in the ultras leader version as in May 2010, when he celebrated at San Siro similarly the ‘Triple’ won with the team then coached by Mourinho and in which the Austrian striker was a promising young player.

Once the post-match “bureaucratic” procedures had been completed, including showers and interviews, around 3.30pm the two open-top buses parked in the San Siro garage began to fill up: one dedicated to the team and coach Inzaghi, the other to the staff. All obviously in a festive atmosphere, with music blaring from the speakers right away, in addition to the flags and the words “Italian champions” and “The second star is ours, thank you Inter fans!” on the bus.

And there was also no shortage of the first chants from the megaphone, with the footballers (Dimarco and Barella among the first to take the microphone) singing “the league leaders are leaving” and “we are the Italian champions” between a few beers and group selfies. Once out of the garage, the two buses were greeted by a delirious crowd: on the roof the wildest were Dumfries, Barella and Dimarco but also Farris, Inzaghi’s deputy, protagonist in launching the chants.

Inter party: slow bus, 200 meters in half an hour

An enthusiasm also on the part of the fans which slowed down the journey quite a bit, considering that after half an hour the two buses traveled just over two hundred metres, resulting in a very late arrival at the Duomo.
“You always make me emotional. We are a big family, we had a great championship”, the words of Nerazzurri vice-president Javier Zanetti, among the first to arrive in the Duomo for the party. “I believe that the coach, the staff and the players have written one of the most important pages of Inter.”

The celebrations obviously continued along the entire eight kilometer journey (and we even saw an Inzaghi wearing a… Inzaghi mask, after the pranks of his players) and there was also no shortage of teasing towards Milan’s rivals: in particular Dumfries showed a banner showing him holding Theo Hernandez on a leash (with whom, among other things, he argued in the last derby, ending up with both of them being sent off) in the dog version, while Frattesi he showed a sign “chatty Milanist” as per the chorus of the Inter fans. Some not too elegant replies to the Rossoneri party in 2022 in which similar tones were used, essentially, before arriving in the Duomo where they were welcomed by a packed and entirely festive square with smoke bombs and fireworks (which alternated for all afternoon until late at night), while on the terrace celebrating were seen not only the Nerazzurri managers but also the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, well-known Inter fan, as well as other VIPs invited for the occasion. In an evening with strong Nerazzurri colors that all of Milan will struggle to forget.
