Surendran, a former room boy at the Malabar Palace Hotel in Kozhikode, returned as a VVIP guest following being elected as the District Judge of Texas in the US. His arrival was welcomed by the hotel staff, including his former colleagues who worked with him during his days as a student at Kozhikode Law College. Surendran reminisced regarding those days, including his part-time job at the hotel from 2 pm to 11 pm. Despite leaving college early to work, he completed his LLB degree and continued to pursue a career in law. He eventually moved to the US with his wife and worked his way up to gain citizenship and become a judge. Manuel Sons Group, who owns the hotel, presented him with a gift to commemorate his homecoming.

Years ago, Surendran worked as a room boy at the Malabar Palace during his studies at Kozhikode Law College. Surendran remembered those days with colleagues Ashoka, Shelvan and Shanmukh as if it were yesterday. Kasaragod Balal Govt. Studied till 10th standard in HS. When I was a student, I went to pick beedi. Completed graduation from Payyannur College. Kozhikode Govt. Got admission to LLB in law college.
The class is from 10 am to 4 pm, but Surendran will leave the college at 1 pm. Work at Malabar Palace was from 2 to 11 pm. Even today, Surendran has not forgotten the taste of the food he ate, the love given by his management and colleagues. We just need to decide who we want to be and move forward with determination. Surendran said that we can change any crisis that comes once morest us. After studying law, he worked as a lawyer with Appukuttan Vakiel.
When his wife Subha got a job as a nurse in Delhi, he went there and practiced in the Supreme Court. He moved there when his wife got a job in America. Worked in a grocery store. Graduated with LL.M. He also got citizenship in 2017. He won the first stage by defeating the sitting judge. He won 53.7% of the votes. The owners of Malabar Palace, Manuel Sons Group, Chairman Manuel Manuel, Directors Manuel Antony, Manuel Uthup, PM George and General Manager Sreejesh Nair presented the gift.
