There has recently been an improvement in terms of accessibility for the Loigom-Soifen Shuttle: Since the end of April, wheelchair users have also been able to travel on the Loigom-Soifen Shuttle.
A vehicle was converted to be wheelchair accessible: “For this purpose, we further developed an eVito from Mercedes specifically for barrier-free journeys,” says Johannes Gfrerer, Managing Director of Salzburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH. The last row of seats with three seats was replaced by two individual seats so that a wheelchair can be pushed into the vehicle via a ramp. The booking is made in such a way that a wheelchair space is booked via the app or by telephone and the passenger is then picked up by the barrier-free vehicle.
New booking app from June 2, 2024
From June 2, 2024, the Loigom-Soifen Shuttle can only be booked in the new Salzburg Verkehr Shuttle app or by telephone on 0662 265500. “The app change is necessary as we expand our on-demand offering,” says Gfrerer, who is pleased with the success of the shuttle service: “In the first quarter of this year alone, two electric minibuses were sold 3,400 passengers transported. The expansion to individual districts of Saalfelden gave us another increase in trips and passengers.” All information regarding the app change will follow shortly before June 2, 2024.
Success story also in Saalfelden
“The Loigom-Soifen Shuttle has been very well received by the population. Since the beginning of the year, more than 350 trips have started from Saalfelden. Around 80 percent of the trips take place from Monday to Friday. The service is available between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m This shows us that people mainly use the shuttle in everyday life to go to work, to the doctor or back home. Converting a vehicle for barrier-free use increases access for more people “The Loigom-Soifen Shuttle has now become a success story. The expansion to Saalfelden, as well as the extension of the operating hours, have led to a doubling of trips in the area alone “In the first quarter compared to the entire previous year, the shuttle represents a customer-oriented, flexible additional offer in public transport. With the conversion to accessibility, additional users can be addressed.”
