The two forty-year-olds – he is 49, she is 45 – initially wanted to keep their feet on the ground. The first purchase of these British people testifies to their simplicity despite the fortune they won. “I’m a pragmatic person,” Ruth tells the Mirror. “The first thing I bought… was an eye test and glasses. » A millionaire’s first purchase far from splendor and luxury.
The couple preferred to take shelter without doing anything crazy: a mortgage loan repaid, a dog bought, a first visit to London… The only little madness in this? Last year, such news would have destroyed me,” adds Rob, who also left his job as an engineer to train as a teacher. “Without this gain, I would have stayed in my job until retirement, without ever trying anything else. »
Ruth kept her job. And if further proof of the simplicity of these new millionaires was needed, the forty-year-old admitted to devoting part of the winnings to the expansion of her parents’ house. “They take care of my sister who needs special care. The expansion will allow everyone to have more space. »
