– A Ukrainian “orphanage” has moved to the shores of Lake Geneva
Driven out by the war, around sixty children found refuge in a missionary center in June 2022. Immersed in their daily life eight months later.
The lapping of Lake Geneva contrasts with the horror of the Ukrainian front they left behind. They are the 60 children, aged 7 to 18, who have no other home than the School of Missions of Saint-Gingolph (VS) since last summer. Their orphanage in Mariupol, a martyr city now controlled by the Russian army, was destroyed. After long weeks of wandering, the “orphans” put their meager suitcase in a building in this Spiritan center – empty since 2017 – in June.
