From January, parents in the Vilnius district will also receive a one-time payment for the birth of a child Business

According to the Mayor of the Vilnius District Municipality, Robert Duchnevičius, the aforementioned payment, which may increase even more in the future, is aimed at strengthening the family policy, helping new families, especially in the first years, when certain financial challenges are encountered. In addition, as the mayor notes, this is another successfully implemented measure that was also included in the election program.

“This one-time payment is a measure that was included in the election program of the Vilnius district branch of the Social Democratic Party. I am glad that I was able to find a common agreement with the members of the council on this decision. This is not only a symbolic financial incentive, but also a part of our complex efforts to help families of the Vilnius region and those who are thinking about creating one.

Along with this payment, other means of helping families, as well as investing in infrastructure, education, health, social care, etc., we aim to strengthen families and create a happy community in the district”, notes Mayor R. Duchnevič.

The draft decision on the allocation of additional one-time support (benefit) of 165 euros upon the birth of a child in the Vilnius district municipality was jointly prepared and registered by the Elder Waldemar Urban of the faction of the Lithuanian Polish Election Action – Union of Christian Families (LLRA-KŠS) and the Elder of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) faction Ruslanas Baranovas.

“Each newborn is not only the joy of the family, but also of the entire district, it is the future of our society. We are glad that young families willingly choose the Vilnius region and settle here. We try to do our best to make the family policy as favorable as possible in our municipality. This payment for newborns only confirms that the Vilnius District Municipality supports and supports families after the birth of a newborn, when additional costs appear in the family’s daily life,” said W. Urban about the decision.

“The birth of a child is an extremely happy event for a family, but at the same time it is also a significant financial burden. Therefore, a decision was made to increase the amount for the dowry of a newborn baby, and at the same time we are submitting a project for a one-time payment of 165 euros upon the birth of a child. Such a combined option, where the family will receive both a baby dowry and a one-time payment, has been tested in other municipalities. At the same time, this will be another incentive for people living in the Vilnius region to declare their place of residence here,” R. Baranovas has said before.

The new one-time payment procedure will enter into force in 2025. January 1 and will apply to children born after that date. It is estimated that for the implementation of the draft decision in 2025, it will be necessary to allocate about 120 thousand from the municipal budget. euros.

The decision stipulates that upon the birth of a child in a family where at least one of the parents (at least 12 months before the child’s birth) has declared a place of residence in the Vilnius district, a one-time payment of three basic social benefits will be awarded, which will amount to 165 euros. One of the child’s parents will have to submit an application to the municipality no later than 12 months after the child’s birth.

The municipality reminds that by the decision of the council from 2025 January 1 The dowry of the Vilnius district baby and its value will be increased from 50 to 150 euros. It is planned to provide families with newborns with the necessary means of care for the baby, which will be useful especially in the first year of his life. Kraitelis will be given to all newborns whose at least one parent has declared their place of residence in the Vilnius district and registered the baby’s birth at the civil registration department of the Vilnius district (Rinktinės st. 50, Vilnius) no later than 3 months from the day of the baby’s birth.
