From January 15th to 21st, 2319 cases of mosquito disease and 1 death | Domestic | 2023-01-25 – Guangming Daily

(Petaling Jaya, 25th) The third epidemiological week of this year (January 15-21) recorded 2,319 cases of dengue fever, a decrease of 201 cases, or 8%, from the 2,520 cases in the previous week.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today that one death from complications of dengue fever was reported this week.

He pointed out that there have been 7,058 cases of dengue so far, an increase of 4,893 (226%) from 2,165 in the same period last year, and 3 deaths from complications of dengue, while there were no deaths in the same period last year.

“80 hotspots were reported this week, more than 67 the previous week, 50 of which were in Selangor, 15 in Sabah, 7 in Penang, 9 in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.”

Speaking of Chikungunya surveillance, Noor Hisham pointed out that 11 cases were recorded in the third epidemiological week, 3 in Kedah, 3 in Penang, 3 in Selangor, and 2 in Perak.

“So far, there have been 47 cases of chikungunya.”

As for Zika surveillance, 150 blood samples and one urine sample have been screened, all of which came back negative, he said.
