A religious service marked this Wednesday the arrival of the coffin of the Queen isabel II to the British Parliament, where the funeral chapel was installed this followingnoon, which will remain open until state funeralon September 19.

The mass, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welbydwas made following the coffin, covered with the royal standard and the imperial crown, was transferred from Buckingham Palace, in a solemn procession and in the presence of thousands of people.

Eight guards from the First Battalion of Grenadiers of the Queen’s Company were in charge of carrying the coffin on their shoulders from the gun carriage to the interior of Parliament.

The service is attended by king charles iii and his three brothers, the princess anne and the princes Andrew and Edwardas well as the sons of the sovereign, the princes William y Harryand other members of the British royal family.

Arriving at the Great Hall of Westminster, the oldest room in Parliament, dating from the 11th century, the coffin has been placed on a catafalque, where it will be guarded by the royal guard.

The day was full of emotional moments such as the meeting of Prince William and Harry, who walked together following their grandmother’s procession.

The royal family was followed by car by the wives and husbands of Elizabeth II’s direct relatives.

Among the images that stood out the most, is the appearance of Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton and the queen consort Camilla.

At different times, Meghan and Kate were seen giving support to their respective husbands, who were visibly emotional.

The coffin will remain covered with the royal banner, made up of four quadrants: two of them have three golden lions representing England, one has a red lion symbolizing Scotland and the fourth the harp representing Ireland.

On the coffin will be placed the corona imperial; the royal orb, a piece that represents the Christian world, and the gold scepter, which symbolizes power.
