A student sparked outrage among social media users after she danced at a graduation ceremony in the presence of university professors.
Social media pioneers sparked widespread controversy after a video circulated of a student dancing to the tune of a loud pop song and climbing on stage to receive her diploma in the presence of college staff.
Video of a Zagazig University student dancing at a graduation party in the university stadium’s grand Celebration Hall prompted an angry statement from her, saying the incident was a departure from the university’s traditions and norms.
A statement from the University of Zagazig read: “In response to a video circulating on social media pages involving a graduate who violated and deviated from university traditions and norms during a graduation ceremony held in the Grand Celebration Hall of the University Stadium in Zagazig event.
“The university emphasizes the importance of observing university traditions and customs as well as social ethics and public morals, which are ingrained in the hearts of male and female students,” the university said in a statement. “The incident was a personal act by a student to express his joy at graduation, but it is separate from out of a general and familiar context, incompatible with the privacy and status of the University as a home for science and scholars.
Zagazig University confirmed in a statement that it had looked into the issue and had referred the incident for investigation after a video of a Zagazig student dancing in front of teachers at a graduation ceremony circulated.
