The Kuusalu municipality hall informed the editors of Sõnumitooja that several people called on Monday and asked the employees of the municipal government what will be happening in the garden lands next to the factory in Kuusalu township, where marking stakes have been placed. The town hall answered the callers that the land belongs to the Kuusalu parish and according to the current detailed plan, it is a built-up area. Callers were advised to ask the parish for more detailed information.
Jaanus Jalakas, teacher of EELK Kuusalu Laurentsius parish, confirmed to the newspaper that it is land belonging to the parish, for which a developer has been found.
He said that hopefully the parish will sign a building rights agreement in the near future, and then the developer will start operating and the current users of the garden lands will no longer be able to work there: “The users of the garden lands are not recommended to start cultivating the land in this place this spring, or if they do, it is related to risk. The developer may start operating there in summer or autumn, it is not yet known exactly. Already years ago, we explained to the users of the garden lands next to the factory that they have to consider that at some point they will have to find a new place to make beds. We had an agreement with the users that the congregation would not take the rent money, instead cleaning days would be held in the church garden and at the old parsonage, or if working days might not be done, money would be donated to the congregation so that they might hire cleaners. No work days have been done and no money has been donated. The users of Aiamaa have changed, plots of land have been passed on to others, and you no longer know who to turn to directly.”
Jaanus Jalakas said that, if desired, it is possible to get a new place for the garden near the old parsonage behind the fish shop, there is still space: “If you are interested, I recommend contacting me. Let’s review the new place together and discuss. When we made Lauritsa plat instead of the garden lands behind the church garden many years ago, the residents of the Kuusalu apartment buildings received a replacement land from the parish on the top of the old parsonage behind the fish shop and moved there. The users there have founded the Kuusalu keeper’s association, the beds are kept in good order.”
