Fencer, medical student and now Miss Universe participant. These are the disciplines that Ignacia Cifuentes, who shone during the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, will seek to make work to take the crown in one of the most important beauty pageants in the world.

In conversation with As Chile, the 22-year-old athlete revealed the details of her participation in said competition and her plan to be the winner: “We have to present a social project and I am going to do it linked to what I do, which is sport and medicine,” he stated.

– What motivated you to enter Miss Universe? Did she ever expect to be in a contest like that?

– Well, they sent it to me and told me that it had conditions. The truth is that my family has always encouraged me to participate in these kinds of contests, so I said: “Now, I’m going to get involved.” I was selected, so I am very happy.

– You mentioned that you would like to talk regarding medicine in the contest: What plan do you have to win?

– You must present a social project for the competition. I am going to present it linked to what I do, which is sport, and also to medicine, but I think I am going to direct it more towards sport. How sporting life affects children, all the doors that can be opened and how those doors continue to open, because unfortunately schools are seeing fewer and fewer sporting activities. The idea is to accelerate that a little more and take advantage of what Santiago 2023 was with the connection it had with the people.

-And what is your plan with the medicine?

– With medicine I was thinking of taking it more to what hospitals are, how this issue is handled in public hospitals and the little access that some people or a segment of people have in Chile.

– What do you think might be the keys in the contest?

– Well, I believe that we all have many strengths there, but I feel that sports and medicine have given me discipline, which is doing something sacredly every day. I have been in this for 12 years and I have had to leave many things behind, so the sense of competition is very ingrained in me, it is not something that is going to cost me. And also my desire to win, my drive, all that is what I feel I have.
