From Elon Musk to Bill Gates… Wealthy people tried to build a utopia

Elon Musk plans to build his own town for the workers of SpaceX and The Boring Company outside of Austin, Texas, according to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal.

The report stated that the billionaire and his cronies have purchased at least 3,500 acres of land in Bastrop, Texas, regarding 35 miles outside of Austin, and signs for a town called “Snailbrook” have already begun appearing in the area, CNBC reported.

The newspaper stated that Musk and his team described the vision of the city as “a kind of utopia in Texas along the Colorado River,” noting that the city will be equipped with prefabricated homes, a swimming pool, an outdoor sports area, and a gym. ., in addition to a private school.

The Tesla CEO is also planning to build a private compound outside the city where he can live, according to the report.

This is not the first time Musk has talked regarding building a city, as Musk said he plans to form a city near the SpaceX launch facility also in 2021 called “Starbazz” in Boca Chica, Texas, 350 miles from Snailbrook.

This, of course, comes on top of Musk’s plans to build a self-sustaining city on Mars, which he first announced in 2014.

Last year, Musk said he expected colonizing Mars to be “hard, hard work.” He said he hopes the people who will colonize Mars will take the opportunity to “rethink society”.
