from Downtown to the Aventura area

Good news for residents of Miami, especially those who depend on public transportation, as the go-ahead was given for the advancement of the so-called fast train that will link the city center (Downtown) with the Aventura area on the outskirts.

The Northeast Rapid Transit Corridor project, which promises to transform mobility in Miami-Dade County, obtained the federal and state support necessary for its implementation, local channels such as Telemundo 51 reported.

This fast train system, which will connect Downtown Miami with the Aventura area, will offer an effective transportation alternative for thousands of residents who face traffic jams and long travel times daily, they said.

With the construction of seven stations located at strategic points in the northeast of the county, the corridor would improve access to high-demand areas.

More details of the upcoming fast train in Miami

Miami-Dade Commissioner Eileen Higgins, an active supporter of the project, highlighted the importance of the station to be built on Northeast 27th Street in Wynwood.

This area, known for its growth and popularity, will be one of the first to benefit from the new system.

Wynwood residents Lucía Luque and Andrew Moroe expressed excitement at the prospect of reducing travel time.

“15-minute trips turn into an hour in the mornings. “This would change our lives,” said Luque about the fast train in Miami.

Expanding transportation options is one of the main objectives of the Northeast Corridor.

According to Higgins, communities such as Little Haiti, North Miami and around the FIU campus in Biscayne Bay, traditionally dependent on automobiles, will be able to count on modern and sustainable infrastructure.

This change will not only facilitate daily traffic, but will also contribute to reducing traffic congestion and offer new economic opportunities in the benefited areas.
