From CV to job interview: Learn how to use artificial intelligence in your job search | Business

“More and more job search portals are integrating AI functionality into their platforms. For example, the paid version of LinkedIn will allow you to simply enter the position you are looking for in the search window (for example, “Python programmer remotely in Vilnius, salary from 3000 EUR”), and the search, based on AI algorithms, will summarize and provide you with the results. However, when looking for a job with free AI tools, you can do a lot yourself,” says L. Keraitis.

According to L. Keraitis, AI is useful in busy and time-consuming job searches. When using it, the most important thing is to maintain critical thinking and not to blindly trust it, not to copy the answers to the letter.

A more perfect CV

L. Keraitis recommends creating a CV draft yourself. Mention your most important work experience and unique skills in it. Once you have an initial variant – AI can be brought in to help.

ChatGPT or Google Gemini is worth asking: “how can i improve my CV please give me specific suggestions“. You can then copy the text of the resume or upload a screenshot of it. The paid versions of both platforms allow you to upload the CV file itself. By seeing not only the content of the text, but also the structure of the CV, AI will provide more accurate insights.

“After uploading my CV, I received some very specific advice. For example, clarifying your achievements – instead of “I host a popular technology podcast” insert her listening stats, increase the spaces between the lines, rephrase the skill description. In addition, DI immediately corrected several grammatical and style mistakes for me,” says L. Keraitis.

According to the expert, when applying for a specific job position, it is possible to copy its description so that the tool can better adapt your CV to a specific job position.

Motivations will inspire AI

“It’s important to remember that your cover letter should reflect your personality and unique experience. Therefore, I recommend using DI tools as a source of inspiration, not as a template. We also feel uncertainty through the screen, so when writing a cover letter, look for inspiration with AI, but don’t forget to put as much of yourself as possible, maintain authenticity,” says L. Keraitis.

First of all, L. Keraitis advises to copy the job description and ask the AI tool, “What daily challenges does a person working in this position face in their work?“. This will give you useful insights on what to talk about in your cover letter to make it interesting to the employer.

Then you can ask the tool to write a cover letter for a job in a specific position at a specific company. AI will help you teach words more fluently, correct sentence structure, suggest ways to reveal your strengths and show what skills you might be valuable in a specific position.

Job interview simulation

When simulating a job interview, AI tools are extremely valuable because they can easily fit into any role. First, give the AI as much information as possible about your dream employer. After introducing the DI to the job position you want, ask him:you are a recruiter at a company and you are attending my first interview for this position – ask me ten questions that I can expect in my first interview“.

Choose one of the more difficult questions you receive and ask DI: “give three reasons why the interviewer asked that particular question and give three tips on how to answer correctly and structure your answers. Answer based on my work experience“.

“Don’t forget to also try the ChatGPT apps called GPTs (you can find them on the left side of the menu under Explore GPTs). For example, this app more than 50 thousand have already been used. times, so you can expect useful advice from her. The advantage of these apps is that they are dedicated to a specific topic, in this case – job search, so their answers will be more targeted, without unnecessary deviations to other topics”, observes L. Keraitis.

Your smile will not be replaced by AI

Recently, there are very actively promoted apps, which, after uploading a portrait, turn it into a high-quality professional photo, as if it was taken in a professional studio. L. Keraitis suggests not to blindly trust these advertisements and to remain old-fashioned when choosing a photo.

“I’ve tried a number of similar professional photo generator apps and the quality of all of them is less than ideal so far. They still retain signs of animation, albeit slightly, but the facial features are changed. The human eye is extremely sensitive to this and very quickly detects AI left behind traces Sometimes even the paid versions of such apps raise questions about the security of personal data,” warns the innovation expert.

L. Keraitis emphasizes that when looking for a job, especially for higher positions, professional photos leave a better impression. A simple, good-quality photograph taken against a light background is usually enough to create a positive image. The most important thing is your sincere smile, which AI tools will definitely not replace.
