Less than a year from the Olympic Games, Parisian hotels are not planning to let the opportunity pass. Between 15 and 20 million people are expected to travel to the capital for the event, and for those who have or will choose a hotel for accommodation, the bill can climb quite quickly.
Two, four, even 15 times more expensive than this summer: hotel prices for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are soaring. “The vast majority of those who have not yet had a reservation or pre-reservation will wait until the last moment,” said David Zenouda, in charge of organizing the Olympic Games for the Union of Trades and Industries of the hotel industry (Umih), at the microphone of Europe 1.
He specifies: “There, the controversy over the multiplication by 400% of hotel nights concerns a certain number of establishments which are very few. These are 2-3 stars which go from 150-200 euros at all suddenly 1,000 euros”.
Punishment of user comments
The capital expects 15 to 20 million people for the event, and therefore those who have chosen the hotel to stay might pay a high price. But David Zenouda trusts the common sense of tourists. “If one of them looks at the hotel nights for hotels that have opened their site, at more than 1,000 euros, for a 2 star, he will not go. Someone who is looking for a bit of reasonable rates will find them,” he agrees.
If no law regulates prices in France, establishments that abuse might still be sanctioned by user comments, which have become essential for this sector.
