Frodeno’s wish: “Experience Hawaii again as a professional”, triathlon – triathlon

Jan Frodeno would like to experience the finale of his title-rich career in Germany at some point.

“Let’s see – I hope to be able to experience Hawaii again as a professional,” said the 40-year-old superstar and three-time Ironman world champion of the German Press Agency, “but realistically I’ll probably start my career in Roth or one at some point afterwards finish the iconic race in Germany”. The World Championships in Kailua-Kona are actually scheduled for next weekend.

But the race in Mecca and at the founding place of the Ironman over 3.86 kilometers of swimming, 180.2 kilometers of cycling and 42.2 kilometers of running has now been postponed to February in May next year to St. George in the US state of Utah relocated. He looks wistfully to Hawaii and misses it, said Frodeno. “The feeling of having given everything, fully trained and in top shape to experience the emotions of the race. So far I have not been able to transfer that to any other race and that concerns me more than any ifs and buts.” He won there in 2015, 2016 and 2019.

How long Frodeno, who became Olympic champion in Beijing in 2008, wants to continue as a professional, he left open. When asked which kilometer section he is currently on in his career compared to an Ironman that covers a total of 226 kilometers, he said: “I’ve probably reached 200 km slowly, but I feel much better than after this distance in the Competition.”

He himself plans to compete at the Ironman California in Sacramento on October 24th.
